Summary of October

October was a step backwards in Sales and Traffic…Just slightly. Up till now, we had seen growth each month. Some months the growth was greater than others, but if you put our results on a monthly chart, the arrow would be pointing up. My little experience here has told me that we should have a few years under out belt before we can spot trends. Our first year online, we spent learning. Over our second year we’ve improved our search engine keyword listings, expanded our product line and made new vendor contacts. Because of that, we have not seen any sort of stability whatsoever.
In order for me to determine if My Pillow Place is actually improving, I need to take a lot of those other factors out of the analysis. This will be hard because I assume we will always try to grow our business by expanding our product lines…We’ve already pegged some new types of items to add for 2008. With that said, we can see the trends for each month of a year to identify which months are slower in the pillow biz. I’ve marked April and October as “slower” but I can’t vouch for that because my sample size is too small. I am sure that I will revisit this topic each year and then figure out some way to boost sales for these slower months.
